It was a rainy
December evening in Richmond, and the road side ditches were
quickly filling with water. Run-off from yards and road ways
trickled into these road side trenches which were often responsible
for giving Richmond the nick name “Ditchmond”.
Inside her home, located off of Steveston
Highway, Mrs. Evans noticed a yellow water stain forming on
her ceiling, and watched as it dripped towards a wet spot
on her carpet. The evening was growing dark now as she realized
the roof was not holding up to the terrible weather outside.
Remembering an earlier forecast which called for nothing but
rain and wind for the next few days Mrs. Evans decided she
needed to find help.
Unable to locate her Yellow Pages directory,
she flipped through to the classifieds within the Richmond
Review newspaper. She quickly dialed the number to a roofing
company which advertised their services in a small box at
the bottom corner of the page. It was after 7 o’clock
and Mrs. Evans was unsure if anyone would answer. Luckily
someone took her call and assured her that someone would be
right over to see if they could solve her problem.
By the time the roofer reached Mrs. Evans’
home it was now completely dark outside and the rain had picked
up considerably. With that, the water spot was beginning to
bubble and spread. The man from the roofing company came inside
the house to see where the water was getting in. He then went
up onto the roof with his flash light and within 20 minutes
returned soaking wet to tell Mrs. Evans that he had fixed
the problem. Sure enough, after a short period of time, the
dripping subsided and peace was restored to Mrs. Evans’
home.
So thrilled with the prompt service, Mrs.
Evans paid the repair bill immediately and had the company
provide a written quotation for a complete roof replacement.
The company owner informed Mrs. Evans that if his company
were chosen for the whole roof replacement that they’d
be able to rebate the repair charge off the total roof cost.
Liking this idea and not wanting to experience another leak
she indeed had the same company return the following week
to replace the entire roof. The new roof was completed quickly
and with great care, and Mrs. Evans offered to be a reference
for the company’s perspective clients in the future.
The roofing company in this story was
BestWest Roofing, and Mrs. Evans’ roof was the first
job we completed as a company.
