Asphalt
Shingles are by far the most common roofing materials
used on North American homes. Most homes originally roofed
with cedar shakes or shingles are switching to asphalt
shingles once re-roofing is required. A variety of styles,
thicknesses, colors, and chemical additives (Algae Resistance
and Scotch Guard) are available in today’s market.
Depending on the chosen shingle, warranties can range
between 20-50 years. Of these products, laminated fiberglass
shingles exceed all others in number of total installations.

Enviroshake
is a relatively new and extremely innovative product that
we are extremely excited to offer our customers. Enviroshake
is a material composed of 95% recycled material including
plastics, fibers, and tire derived rubber. The initial
cost is higher than the more commonly used asphalt shingles
but it gives clients the rustic appearance of cedar shakes
while having the life span of metal, tile and slate. Longevity,
appearance, and environmental sustainability are all benefits
that are sure to please everyone.

Cedar
Shake Roof Systems
Cedar
Shakes and Shingles once dominated the roofing
market. The main benefit being its warm rustic appearance
seems to improve a home’s character. Unfortunately,
life spans tend to be short (between 10-25 years), especially
with the decreasing availability of higher quality, old
growth cedar. Other drawbacks include the heightened cost
of both product and installation, and the rapid deterioration
of its aesthetic vibrancy caused by moss, algae and natural
weathering. In spite of these drawbacks cedar remains
popular for those unable to resist the natural look.
